ogoproject

As any PHP developer learns, there are some annoying inconsistencies with the naming convention of functions and the order of arguments.

A group of hackers are working to create a fork of PHP to address the naming issues, while apparently just starting out it may bear worth watching for what the Ogo Project produces.

…dunno. Revisionist projects like this usually create as much confusion as the problem they were trying to solve… no arguing it’s a noble instinct. Merely misapplied.

This is that kind of project which is totaly useless. The lack of naming convencions are anoying only while you don’t get used to it. For learner it will depend much more on process (the quality of book, teacher, examples).

This is certianly an itch someone had to scratch. However, unless there’s signifigant effort to push this into something like PHP7, it’s kinda a specialist project, and it might fall behind the existing patch cycle someday and never catch up.

I like the name of the project tho, php is one letter over on the keyboard from ogo. Unfortunately, it’s typed with both hands, the G is a left hand letter on the keyboard.
